I just love tihis graphic - the colors and the message can't help but make you happy.
I really struggle with running in the afternoons. I I have a hard time running with food on my stomach (probably because I put too much Sriracha on my lunch) and usually end up with terrible heartburn after about a half mile. I hate it! I run so much better in the mornings, but sometimes I just want to sleep in. Since I slept in before my meeting yesterday, and Jake got called into work about 2 am, we decided to run together after work. We took the dogs...Jake ended up running with both of them because they listen to him better. Eye-roll. Both dogs like to run next to us off their leashes, but we don't do that unless we are in the middle of nowhere. Aspen, our Vizsla, does really well on her leash, but Lulu, the little one...not so much. It's my own fault for not running with her more, but she really wore me out yesterday! Other than Lu being a pain, we had a fun, easy 4-miler. Anyone have any advice for handling dogs that constantly pull on their leashes? She just gets so excited!
After our run, we changed, did some abs, foam rolled, and then chowed down on some AMAZING Mexican at Cesar's Old Mexico. If you haven't been there - GO. You will not regret it. I forgot to take a picture of our food because I was too busy pigging out.
Jake has been running in Altra shoes (both road and trail) for a few months now and he LOVES them. I have always been a Brooks girl, but I got some Altras to try and I'm pretty excited. I haven't gone on a run in them yet, but I've been wearing them around and HOLY COW, they are super comfy. I can't wait to run in them after my race on Saturday.
After dinner, Jake spent some time in the shop working on his bike and I got to relax with some wine and dark chocolate while watching The Office on Netflix. I needed to work on my final comp, but I'm putting it off until this weekend...sometimes ya just need a brain break! I went to bed early, then got up and did an easy 3-miler before work - BRR. It was chilly this morning! Jake got me this Petzl headlamp for Christmas and I am in love with it. I use it every single morning!
After having nice, sunny weather yesterday and now this cold weather today, I am REALLY missing summer. I was browsing through some old pictures and came across these of us paddle boarding with some of our good friends. It was my first time on a paddle board and I was immediately hooked! This needs to happen again ASAP.
Lunch today was chicken, beets, and brussel sprouts. Any time we have beets, I am happy. I think they're my favorite veggie! <3
Happy Wednesday!! One more day of school until spring break - boo yah! :)
I write about whatever is going on each day. I want to use this space as a place to document my dissertation and training journeys.
