I opted for a treadmill run yesterday. I forgot the Y was redoing their cardio room, though, so I hoped I would be able to find an open treadmill. They moved all the equipment out of the room and placed a couple of each of the machines in the carpeted areas around the track. I got lucky and found an open treadmill! It was facing a red beam, so I stared at that for my whole workout, ha!
Here's my 8 mile workout from yesterday. I ended with an average pace of 7:49. I felt really good the entire run, so I probably should've pushed my pace a little more. The numbers at the end are the treadmill pace settings, just in case anyone wants to try this workout. You can also find a treadmill pace conversion chart HERE. Some treadmills differ from this chart by a second or two, but it's usually pretty close.
It felt reallllly good to stretch after that run. I'm excited to see what the cardio room will look like when they finish the renovations!
Jake had told me to try a couple of things during this run, so he was pretty excited when I did them. My Mom was finishing up her spin class when I got the Y, so she came and kept me company for a little bit at the beginning of my workout.
I came right home from the Y and made some more brussels sprouts, then chowed down on them and some leftovers. This bowl of goodness hit the spot! Meatballs and quinoa for the win.
I had a little bit of free time, so I decided to put some fall decorations out. Jake had gotten all of my fall stuff out of the attic the night before (THANK YOU!). I forgot I had made this door hanger with my Mom a few years ago. I love finding things I have forgotten about!
I've been having some belly stuff the last 4 or 5 days, so I found this at Mama Jean's and have been drinking it every day. It's really good!
Some of our outside decorations - I love the color of our new door with all this fall stuff!
Then I did a little decorating inside. Jake LOVES this sparkly table cloth. NOT. It's just SO perfect for Halloween!
I'm combining Halloween and Thanksgiving stuff...I'll put the Halloween stuff away after Halloween. I just like seeing it all out!
I had to run an errand, so I figured my pickle hat was the perfect accessory. People always stare at this hat trying to figure out what it is...and one they figure it out, they want to know why I have a pickle on a hat. I say why not?
Snacks on snacks! These no bake cookies are delicious. I'm limiting myself to one a day...so I really savor it. Also, I think dried mango is one of my all-time favorite snacks. Anyone else love it? It's just SO good.
I spent a couple hours doing some grading for the two online classes i'm teaching this semester, then I met some friends at Galloway for dinner. I had the veggie burger (sans bun) and sweet potato fries. This is one of my favorite meals from Galloway. It's SO good.
We had a blast chatting about running and our upcoming races! It will be so nice to have a group to do long runs with in the winter. They both teach yoga, so it looks like I'm going to need to start going consistently again - which I would love! I think yoga definitely helps my running. It makes me stretch WAY more than I do on my own, that's for sure.
This dog. Hot mess. She drank a ton of water, which means she's dripping water everywhere, and she always wants to play when I'm trying to go to bed. ALWAYS. She threw her toy at me and then just sat and stared like this.
Up early for a track workout! It was humid this morning. SO. Humid.
I got a total of 7 miles in this morning. I did a 2 mile warm-up, 6x400s, with a 400 recovery lap in-between, and a 2 mile cool-down.
Getting faster each time I do this workout!
Jake ran part of my run with me, and he was in the garage when I got finished. Just a little post-run stretching procrastination selfie.
I love bacon. I hadn't tried this kind yet. It was good! Different, but good! It was more like ham than turkey.
Breakfast of champions - egg scramble, bacon, and a waffle. Yes, please.
I got my last round of revisions back last night and got the go ahead!! Thank goodness. So now I have to send my latest draft out to the rest of my committee and then start on IRB, which will give me permission to start my study. Getting closer! I'm going to spend some time working on that, then start contacting some venues about our wedding!! <3 We are getting married in Colorado, but want to come back home and have a huge celebration afterwards. If you know of a venue that can hold a lot of people in Springfield, MO, let me know! : )
Anyone else love dried mango? Another dried fruit?
Any venue ideas?
Any fun reception ideas?
I write about whatever is going on each day. I want to use this space as a place to document my dissertation and training journeys.
