Ladies in the area - I'm a Go Girl Run ambassador and am hosting another Go Girl social run (weather permitting) THIS Sunday at 3 PM! I'll post more information on Facebook (Chelsea K. Dorman) and Instagram (@chelseakdorman), but we will meet at Galloway Grill, which is located at 4211 S. Lone Pine. As long as the weather cooperates, we will meet-up! These are always fun and you can choose the distance you'd like to run!
The last of the deformed breakfast burritos...I have to be honest - I was pretty sad about these being gone. We will have to have them again within the next few weeks! Maybe the more I make them, the better I will get at rolling them up...
Friday ended up being a rest day - I really need to get back on a training plan! I keep forgetting when I'm supposed to be running and when I'm not...I realized I hadn't had a day off yet, so I used Friday to rest! I also got a lot of cuddles from Lu.
This artist popped up on a random station we were listening to the other night and I LOVE her voice. Her Love You True song is amazing - check it out!
I spent the ENTIRE day yesterday in front of my computer, but I got a lot accomplished!
Here's some background on what I'm doing - I think it's been awhile since I've shared anything. I was in the classroom for five years - I taught 5th grade for a year (while working on my master's), 7th grade ELA for two years (finishing my master's and starting on my PhD), and then was a reading specialist for 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th grade for two years (still working on my PhD). 7th grade is my all-time favorite grade to teach! I resigned from my full-time teaching job last May in order to finish up my degree. I am in the fourth year of working on my PhD in Reading Education. My dissertation is looking at how students experience a sense of community in online courses, so I've been conducting interviews for the past 6 week. I have 12 (maybe 13) participants and I've interviewed each of them three times. Well, almost three times! I'm finishing up my final interviews within the next weeks, hopefully. The whole process has been crazy hard, but it has also been SO fun. I have loved the interview process and getting to understand what people like/dislike about online learning. I teach online courses, so this has already helped shape how I teach my own students. I'm excited to finish data analysis, so I can really study the specific things that my participants addressed. So, that's what I'm always working on! And, fingers crossed, I'm hoping I can somehow pull off a May graduation...
I took a break from work and had lunch - mashed sweet potatoes and chicken tenders. Mm!
Remember how I said I was bad at rolling burritos? Here's the proof. In my defense...these were hard to roll if you weren't eating it right away. But also, I think I'm just bad at rolling burritos, so there's that.
I went on a short run yesterday morning and FINALLY got to wear some of the new gear that Jake got me for Christmas. I didn't have a very good wind breaker, so he got me THIS one by Marmot. I LOVED it. It's super lightweight and very comfortable! Oh, and it's on sale right now!
Breakfast Friday morning was my old egg and oatmeal concoction. I also added a banana, peanut butter and flax seed. So. Good.
Yesterday, after my RUN (still loving it), Jake wanted to take me out to breakfast before he left for work. So, we headed out the door and went to a place close to our house. They were supposed to open at 7, but they weren't! We were bummed, but we had good stuff at the house to eat, so we headed back home and Jake made us an egg scramble and I did avocado toast. It ended up being super yummy.
I spent the morning yesterday doing computer work and trying to get caught up on the three classes I am teaching this semester. If you've been following my blog for awhile, you know that I like to stay busy, BUT, teaching three online graduate courses might be a lot. Especially while trying to finish my dissertation and plan a wedding. But hey, go big or go home, right? ; ) Lu jumped up on the couch, threw her body against mine, and looked up at me like this. I guess she was needing love? I used to think Aspen was our needy dog...turns out it's Lulu.
I write about whatever is going on each day. I want to use this space as a place to document my dissertation and training journeys.
