I read about this book on another blog I read. I so was intrigued by the title that I just had to order one for myself. I am keeping my fingers crossed for some snow this week so I can have the perfect excuse to stay in and cuddle up with my books.
I didn’t sleep again Wednesday night, so my run got pushed back until after I taught yesterday. I slept from about 5 until 7, then got up and made us breakfast before Jake left for work. I was a straight up zombie all day yesterday. All. Day.
I taught one of my college courses for the first time yesterday. I had forgotten how much I enjoyed being in the college classroom. I loved getting to talk with all of the students and share teaching stories. I think it’s going to be a wonderful semester!
I came home to Lu NOT doing the laundry. Maybe one day she learn...
Also, she pulls this blanket off the top of this recliner to make herself beds. Just about every day. Dawn, my birth mom, made this blanket for me for Christmas this year. I love it!!
I needed to run, but it was literally the last thing I wanted to do. I just wanted to lay on the couch. I was so worn out, buuuut, I know if I slept yesterday during the day, it would’ve made it even harder last night. So, I ate lunch, and then sipped some coffee while watching an episode of “I’m Sorry” a new show I’m watching on Netflix. It's hilarious.
I just got these. I can’t wait to try them!
Guys, it was the last thing I wanted to do, but at 1:50, I did my band exercises and then forced myself out the door to run.
I had 45 minutes of easy miles. Lu joined me for about half of that. The whole run was a struggle, but I was glad I got it in. You know what we never regret? Doing a run. Don't get me wrong, I love running, but I don't love it every day. Yesterday was one of those days. We can't wait around to do things; we can't wait until it's the 'right time'. If you have a goal, go get after it! You're stronger than you think you are.
I lifted after I ran, THEN I parked my butt on the couch. Lu was pretty worn out from her exercises.
I lounged on the couch until it was time to meet some girlfriends to celebrate Jyssica! We all went to dinner and then to a hot yoga class at the studio where Jyss teaches. It was a blast, but I could definitely tell it had been over 6 months since I had been to a yoga class...whoops!
Here's our post-yoga sweaty picture. Happy birthday (yesterday), Jyss!!
Jake and I have date night tonight, so we are trying something new. We got gift cards to try Theta Float Spa (thank you, Matt)! We are excited to try it out. I don't know much about it, so I will wait until Monday to fill you in. It's supposed to help with recovery, stress, insomnia (sweet!), and a bunch of things. I'll share all about it on Instagram and here (Monday). I picked up a half day of subbing this afternoon, so I'm going to relax, sub, then relax some more. I slept AMAZING last night. A friend, Kim, told me to try taking Magnesium right before bed. I'm hoping that solved my problems - fingers crossed!
Happy Friday, friends!
This is one of my favorite graphics, thought I’d share it with ya!
I’ve been dedicated to doing my band work before every run. These moves help to activate my glutes. HERE’S a two-minute video for you to try if you’re interested!
For breakfast this week, we are switching things up. We are having egg sandwiches with Pepper Jack cheese, mushrooms, spinach, and chicken apple sausage on the side.
Brrr. It’s a chilly Monday morning here in Springfield! Our weekend plans changed a little bit when Jake got hit with some terrible sickness late Friday night, but we will get to that later. We grabbed an early dinner with some friends at Pappo’s Friday night. It was delcious and we love our time with Sam and Ryan.
My favorite breakfast date. He seems less amused by our food than I do. Typical. Also, robe life is the best life.
I shared my 2019 races yesterday (HERE), which got me thinking about some of my past races. I wanted to share two of them. This first one is from 2011. I had taken a break from running after high school cross country. When I moved back home my sophomore year of college, I started running more regularly again. My Dad and I did some 5ks together, and this is from one of them! I also used to dye my hair super blonde...
Here is my list of races for 2019! My A race is definitely the OKC Marathon, which is in April. Now that I have a marathon under my belt, I’m ready to knock out another one. I know each one will be a learning experience. I already have a few things I want to do differently this time around. One of my exciting pieces of news is that I got a running coach!! I’m working with Carlee at WAHOO! Running (HERE) and I am beyond excited. I wasn’t going to use a coach, but it all kind of just fell into my lap and Jake told me to go for it. I met Carlee at the Go Girl in OKC last year and we have stayed in touch ever since. She’s amazing and I feel super blessed to be able to learn from her. I have strict instructions on a few of these races, especially with my knee/ankle situation, so this list could change, but for now, this is the plan! The name of each race is hyperlinked if you want to read more about them. I want to work up to a 50k, but I'm not sure if that will be this year or next...

Just in case you were wondering...
Friday morning was SO wonderful. It started with breakfast, followed by a facial and a massage. HUGE thank you to my amazing in-laws for the best Christmas present!
I write about whatever is going on each day. I want to use this space as a place to document my dissertation and training journeys.
