Finally got settled in our hostel (it's SUPER nice) and got connected to Wifi! I have never stayed in a hostel before, and so far, I am really impressed.
I had some leftovers for lunch Thursday - salad and pasta. Mmm. I definitely ate lunch at 10 am because I was starving...I feel like I'm sometimes hungrier when I don't workout. It's weird.
Then I finished up our packing - love our Marmot toiletry bags!
Humidity. People always ask me how long it takes to straighten my hair...sometimes I wish I could just get by with blow drying it because it would cut the time in half, but that's the picture on the left. Not great. I think it takes me anywhere from 30-45 minutes, just depending on how motivated I am. Whoever invented the straightener should be knighted in my honest opinion. I don't usually straighten my hair in the summer because it literally stays straight for about 5 seconds. But I figured I'd try to see how it holds up in Colorado.
Since I ate lunch at 10 am, I needed a snack at 11:30...
Boom. I finished my playlist shortly after I took this picture - it sure felt good to cross everything off with time to spare before we left!
I guess these pictures are out of order because I made the sandwiches before crossing that off my list, but oh well!
These turned out pretty yummy! I knew the guys would want more than one, so I made an extra for them to share.
Another snack...veggie and blueberry protein smoothie. <3
I was sad about leaving our girls. Aspen looks real bug-eyed here...she was mad that we were packing.
Lu was more interested in what was going on outside.
Then we hit the road!!
Road trip essentials = sunnies, blankets, and La Croix. I was set!
We snacked, ate dinner, and snacked some more. I don't know what it is about car trips, but I feel like I am always snacking. Or sleeping. I did plenty of both.
Treats!! I love this stuff.
Black Pepper Popcorn is one of my favorite snacks EVER. I hadn't had this brand before, but it was good! We all loved it.
We go to our hotel, which was about halfway, around 11 last night. Then it was up at 4:15 to hit the road again...Jake is a better morning person than I am.
My first mountain spotting of the trip!
We stopped for breakfast and each got these breakfast burritos. Holy yum. They were so good!
After we checked into our hostel, we did a short 20-minute run, which was going to be my first run ever in Colorado. Um, how do people do this? I made it about 30 seconds and had to stop to walk. I think I stopped to walk about every minute or so after that. Woof. I decided I'm just going to walk when I need to tomorrow and enjoy the scenery. Also, I'll get a beer after the race. So there's that! ; )
After our run, we walked around Leadville for a little bit, then grabbed a snack. Jake and I shared this yummy turkey, pesto, and tomato sandwich.
Now we are back at the hostel hanging out before dinner - I think we are getting pizza! After we eat, it will be early to bed. Our races start at 8 am, so we will get up about 5 to have breakfast and drink coffee. I will take lots of pictures and do a big wrap-up Monday and Tuesday of next week! Until then, follow me on Instagram (@chelseakdorman) to get updates!
I write about whatever is going on each day. I want to use this space as a place to document my dissertation and training journeys.
