I'm 33 miles from hitting my 1000 mile mark for the year! Eek!
This breakfast casserole hit the spot yesterday after my run! So good. I think I like this better in the crockpot than in the oven. The veggies really get cooked and are so tender.
Sleepy girl #1...
Kinda sleepy girl #2.
I had forgotten how much I love celery and peanut butter! So good. Also, pistachios are always a solid choice.
I ate the rest of our leftover shrimp and asparagus for lunch - it was almost better the second time!
I took a break from computer work - because I wanted to throw my computer - and cuddled with my girls for about 20 minutes.
I had a low point yesterday. I had another phone meeting about my proposal, which I thought it would last 20 minutes...it took two hours. I got off the phone and cried. I knew writing my dissertation would be hard, but man...it's really, really hard. There are so many things to consider and each member of my committee wants something different. They aren't doing anything wrong - that's what they're there for, but sometimes it's overwhelming and I feel like I can't do anything right. Yesterday was one of those days. I was sitting on the couch feeling sorry for myself and happened to glance at the quote on my tea bag. This was it. So, I took a deep breath and decided to take the rest of the evening off from working. I needed a little brain break and some time to chill out. I will get it done, I know that, but it didn't have to be right then.
So, instead of cooking (I was an hour behind on everything because my meeting took so long), Jake took me to dinner. I scarfed down a salad with tuna and sipped on a vodka water, and felt MUCH better.
Jake was really craving something sweet, so he found this skillet cookie package in our pantry...no clue how old it was. He made the batter and we both tasted it before we baked it. NOPE. It was definitely old. It tasted so bad. Poor guy...
One of my pet peeves is wet hair. I HATE it. Yesterday was no exception, so I decided to see what my hair would look like if I braided it wet and let it dry. I took it out once it was dry and it looked like normal! I found my new way to deal with wet hair. YES! I have really curly hair and it can get frizzy when I blow dry it. This made my curls less frizzy, which I'm all about. Win-win.
We decided to start a movie before bed. Has anyone seen this? We are about halfway through it - we both like it so far!
Jake ate peanut butter out of the jar with a knife last night...in the dark! I asked why he didn't get a spoon and he said because it wasn't long enough. I'm just glad he didn't cut his face!
I am loving this chilly weather - curling up on the couch with a blanket is my favorite!
Today is a new day AND I am already pretty far on some work I wanted to have done this morning. I'm glad I took last night off, but today is all about knocking out this stuff so I can move on. No crying about it today!
I write about whatever is going on each day. I want to use this space as a place to document my dissertation and training journeys.
