I didn't get a post up yesterday (Thursday) - things were just crazy! I'll get to all of the crazy in a bit, but first, let's chat about Wednesday.
Another breakfast burrito Wednesday morning. These are so yummy.
These two...they always make me laugh.
Lu is the worst about getting absolutely filthy outside. I sent this picture to Jake and said she was waiting for him to get home to clean her up...this was taken at 9 AM.
I worked for a little bit Wednesday morning, then took a snack/Parks & Rec break. I love this show.
Remember how excited I was about the coconut oil in the bathtub? Well, this happened. Whoops. I got it all cleaned up, though.
I worked for a couple more hours, then I decided to head out for a bike ride. Jake and I wear the same size spandex...I stole some of his riding shorts.
There was a big turtle just walking down our street! I sent this picture to Jake and he said it looked like a snapper. I'm glad I didn't get any closer to it...
I will forever ride my mountain bike on the trail around our house. I'm just so much more comfortable on it than on a road bike. Maybe one day I'll work up to a road bike...the skinny tires are intimidating.
I love these views.
I got almost 13 miles in! The weather was perfect on Wednesday.
I rode home and was starving. I made a smoothie bowl and ate some leftover tri-tip.
Then I needed some beets...
I met some of my girlfriends at Galloway for a drink. Katie hates when I take her picture...we all sat outside and eventually had to leave because it was storming. We had fun while we were there, though!
Kallie was camera ready, Katey did not want to cooperate.
Kayla was probably doing some Amazon shopping... ; )
Then it was home to make dinner - we had salmon, leftover black bean noodles, and asparagus.
We caught up on New Girl and shared some chocolate - I get too excited whenever chocolate is involved...sorry the picture is blurry.
I love both of these songs.
Okay, let's chat about Thursday. Sooo, I'm trying to get caught up on all of my work and maybe even be a little bit ahead before we leave next Thursday for Colorado. My plan was to get up early, knock out a run, then get started on edits. I ended up turning off my dang alarm and sleeping until almost 7, which is when I wanted to be FINISHED with my run and starting on work. I don't want to sound like a whiny baby, but I guess I was one yesterday...I don't like sleeping in when I have work I need to be doing. I debated skipping my run all together, but I knew I would feel better if I could get out and move. I decided to go to Springfield Lake to get my 6-miler in. It was BEAUTIFUL out. Also, it was humid, so I knew my hair was about to get crazy (well, crazier than usual). I had my mace with me!
My run was great! I ran an old loop I used to run all the time and I found my street. ; )
I also had some fun running through freezing cold water, which felt amazing yesterday.
Just super happy to be running! I definitely needed to get out and move before sitting in front of my computer all day.
The moment you finish a hot run and all you can think about is chugging your water and then knocking out ALL the edits when you get home...and you reach into your pocket and your car keys are gone. UUUUUUGH.
I took an Uber home, ate a quick breakfast, grabbed our spare key, then took another Uber back to Springfield Lake. I told Jake I was going to try and re-trace my steps, but I ran all over the place - pavement, trail, grass, etc., so I just knew I wasn't going to find my dang key. I looked on the trail and the grass I ran in, but didn't see my key anywhere.
I finally got in my car and drove to where I started running on the pavement. I got out and started walking, guess what I see - my key! It was sitting in some random driveway. I couldn't believe it. Total God thing! I was so happy. I got back into the car and drove home so I could get started on work.
Also, just look at these beautiful views.
So, the day ended up just fine, but my morning was a disaster. Despite all of that dumb stuff, I managed to finish edits on three chapters - two of which are 100% ready to go; I had minor things I had been wanting to fix. I only have three chapters left to finish edits on!!
I had another smoothie bowl for lunch yesterday. I'm loving these right now!
This hummus is the BEST.
This happened in about 15 minutes...the girls cannot have stuffed toys of any kind.
Dinner last night was chicken, quinoa, lentils, and veggies. SO. Good. And some chocolate for dessert.
Jake got called into work at 2AM, poor guy. He's still out working. I met Kayla at the gym at 5AM to lift a little! We have a long run tomorrow, so we were careful with weight this morning.
I'm working on more edits today before a phone conference this afternoon. This time next week we will be in Colorado!!! <3
I write about whatever is going on each day. I want to use this space as a place to document my dissertation and training journeys.
