I went to Orangetheory for the first time yesterday afternoon (I'll share more about that later), so after I took Aspen to the vet at 7AM, I lounged in bed, drank my smoothie, and did some work on my computer. I've been wearing this ring that GrooveLife sent me - HERE. I'll have a little review for you guys pretty soon! Isn't it adorable?
So far, I am LOVING this ring. I've worn it for runs, workouts, and just everyday wear. I'm super impressed so far. I'm going to wear it awhile longer before I do a review and a little give-away!
I sent this to my girlfriend, Katie, the other day. This would be us. 100%. Make sure you read the caption.
How cute is this tiny spatula? I love it. I also LOVE this hummus. It's the one I always post about (from Lucky's), if I don't make my own. I needed a little snack before I worked out, so I ate up the rest of this hummus on a rice cake with dairy-free cheese.
I wore all my brightest clothing.
Katie and I met at Orangetheory and got the low-down about the class. We both had been wanting to try a class, so I'm glad we were able to go together. Overall, the class was fun! We were split into two groups. One group started out on the rowers (us), and one group started on the treadmills. After the warm-up, our group moved from the rowers to the floor to do a little lifting. After we finished lifting and rowing, we switched with the other group and got on the treadmills. I loved the cues to change up our pace while we were on the treadmills, it was a blast. I felt like I would've gotten more accomplished on my own with the lifting portion since there was a lot of wasted time while things got explained, but I enjoyed the 60 minute class! I don't think I will join, since Jake just got us that whole new gym and I'm running consistently on my own, but I definitely see the benefits for someone who wants to knock out a whole body workouts in 60 minutes and be done for the day! It's a little pricey, too - $150 for a month of unlimited. BUT, if you like guided workouts and having someone by your side while you complete different exercises, I'd check it out! Your first class is free, so that was awesome.
You also get to track your heart rate and progress throughout the class, then this is emailed to you when you finish. I didn't score very high, you want at least 12 splat points. I ran between a 9 and 7:30 minute pace on the treadmill (we switched between paces a few times), so I should've been a little higher than what this shows. My watch also tracks heart rate, and it showed my heart rate being higher than this. But again, I love the concept behind these workouts and I think tracking your heart rate when you workout is important!
Katie and I did the noon to 1 class, so we were starving when we finished. We headed to Pita Pit for lunch. I got a black bean patty pita wrap with spinach, onion, jalapeños, banana peppers, hummus, cucumbers, and tomatoes. It was DELICIOUS.
Thanks for the shout-out, Lucky's! This is my favorite grocery store. <3
Thank you, Amazon Prime Day!!! The best thing to come home to!
I was out of my favorite seasonings, so I stocked up again. I can't wait to make my fish for lunch today!
Guys, this is the best part - TRX straps!! I have been wanting some FOREVER. Jake is going to set these bad boys up in our garage. I love TRX, so I can't wait to use these. So, so, so excited.
I had an orange and some strawberries when I finished opening all of the goodies from Amazon.
Then I got a call that Aspen was out of surgery and ready to be picked up. I got in the car and saw this. Yeah, no thanks.
Look who is back from the vet! She had two spots taken out to be biopsied. Hey, in this picture, you can kind of see that cloudy spot in her eye that I was talking about. It's gotten SO much better. I have to put a gel in her eye three times a day. I think it's helping! Poor girl.
I decided that Jake and I would start cutting Lu's hair. Here's the before. She didn't want to turn around.
During. Jake did most of the cutting. He's gotten lots of good practice with shaving his head. I've shaved his head for him a few times. It always makes me nervous. Lu did really well! I was impressed.
She was a furry monster.
Getting your hair cut is exhausting! She looks a million times better.
Jake and I were supposed to grill with our friends Jordan and Trevor, but we got some really terrible storms here in Springfield. Jake thought he might get called out to work and Jordan had to go pick up Trevor, who was out riding his bike. We rescheduled our double date night and Jake and I grabbed a quick dinner at The Pitch. We were both starving, so we ordered one of our favorite appetizers - the roasted brussels. SO GOOD.
We also shared a salad.
Aaaand we each got our own pizza. I had the Thai Shrimp with light cheese. It was delicious!
Sriracha. Of course.
We both really wanted ice cream, so we drove through Braum's on our way home. I got a scoop of cookie dough with whipped cream. I definitely had way more dairy than I usually do, but man, it was SO good.
I'm sharing this because they aren't gross looking. You can kind of see the two spots Aspen had removed. She has two stitches, which will get taken out in 10 days. She's been acting okay! Just tired. I hope we hear results quickly. I don't like seeing her like this.
I've been sleeping in my GrooveLife ring and it's SO comfortable. I can't even tell it's on! I'm excited to write up a review for you guys - I'll let you know when I do!
My meeting got cancelled today - this will be the first time in months I haven't had a meeting on Friday afternoon. I'm kind of excited! I still have a bunch of work to do, but it'll be nice to not feel rushed to get things finished by the time my meeting usually starts. I'm hoping to knock out some final edits on chapters 1 and 2 and then start prepping for the three college courses I'm teaching in the fall. It's going to be here before I know it!
I got up at our normal time (4AM), to run, but for some reason, I wasn't feeling a run in the dark, so I'm waiting until the sun comes up. I have a little workout today, so I'm excited to see how that goes. It's just 6 miles, so it won't take me very long. After that, I want to workout in our new AMAZING gym!
Happy Weekend, friends!
I write about whatever is going on each day. I want to use this space as a place to document my dissertation and training journeys.
