Jake stopped at CVS yesterday after work and picked up some medicine for me. Yes, he's the best ever. I should have started taking something right away Friday morning when I realized I had a fever, but I was too out of it to go anywhere. Does anyone else feel delirious when they have a fever? It's the worst. Our girls stayed close to my side all day, especially the red one. I hadn't eaten anything other than a smoothie and I didn't have much of an appetite, but I knew I needed to eat something. I figured some chicken noodle soup would be perfect, especially in a bread bowl! ;) So, we drove through Panera and grabbed my dinner. Jake wanted pasta from Bambino's, so we called in his order, then drove around some neighborhoods close by and looked at houses while we waited. Looking at houses is one of our favorite things to do. I didn't get a picture of his food, but he had a yummy, cheesy pasta with peas and mushrooms. I don't eat much dairy, so I didn't try it, but it looked yummy!
We finally had some time to finish a movie we started last Sunday evening - Into the Wild. Has anyone seen it before? Jake loved it! I liked it a lot, but had some trouble getting into it, which could be from us breaking it up into three nights since it's super long. Lu made a bed on some pillows - we don't usually let the dogs on the couch, but since I'm sick, I don't care. Not the best dog parenting, but whatever! Also, I always wear these blue fuzzy socks when I'm sick. I think they help! After our movie, Jake got ready for his 50-mile run this morning. He laced a pair of trail shoes, got together all of his nutrition, and laid clothes out since he had to leave really early. I'm hoping his run goes well! I won't hear from him until early evening - they don't get very good cell service where they are running today. His hands seem to be doing better (he had some major issues with them from his race last Saturday). He can almost straighten all of his fingers now! We are so thankful.
I woke up this morning fever free!!! Thank goodness. I still don't feel 100%, but I am so glad I took yesterday off and rested. I still don't have much of an appetite, but I made an egg scramble with sweet potatoes, onion, spinach, and tomato, and had toast with almond butter and honey for breakfast/lunch. Totally using my breakfast tray and eating in bed. I didn't even drink coffee yesterday...that's not okay!
The girls and I are doing laundry, working on comps, and drinking coffee. They're obviously being a huge help. Their lives are rough.
I got all caught up on my comp from Friday (I didn't even write one word and my plan was to get 6-8 pages written), I really hope I can finish it today. I am SO ready to be finished with these. This is my third and FINAL comp - I have been working on them since December 23rd. I have to officially submit all three by Thursday, then I have to defend them. Once I pass comps, I get to start on my dissertation, then it's GRADUATION. I cannot believe I am so close to being finished. I'm definitely ready, but I think I'm going to miss taking classes...maybe. I won't miss the homework, that's for sure.
I really wish we were back in Austin with two of our favies. We had such a good time and got to try some amazing beers and eat amazing food. I'm thinking a beach trip is in order...
I hope everyone has a fantastic weekend and gets to enjoy the sunshine!
I write about whatever is going on each day. I want to use this space as a place to document my dissertation and training journeys.
