Remember how I said I was bad at rolling burritos? Here's the proof. In my defense...these were hard to roll if you weren't eating it right away. But also, I think I'm just bad at rolling burritos, so there's that.
Here's the inside goodness of these poorly rolled burritos...so delicious! Eggs, spinach, black beans, and goat cheese. I heated it up in the microwave, added some Sriracha, and chowed down.
These are SO good. I'm glad we have them all week! They're also SO easy to just grab out of the fridge and heat up. I'm already looking forward to having one this morning!
I ate an early lunch because I had two meetings in the afternoon and knew I'd be starving if I waited to eat until after. My schedule is pretty much determined by food, which I'm not upset about! For lunch I had the rest of the brussels I made in the AirFryer and the last bit of Marathon Lasagna that I had forgotten about! I'm sorry for lying to you yesterday...I didn't mean to! I really thought we had finished the lasagna off, but I forgot I had taken some of the massive servings off our plates before we ate. Whoops! This was a nice surprise yesterday! I already want to make this lasagna again. The recipe is from Run Fast. Eat Slow. and it's the bomb.com.
Then it was off to my meetings! I keep these boot shapers in my tall boots any time I'm not wearing them. They help keep them upright and hold their shape! I couldn't find the exact same ones that I have, but THIS has some that look similar!
I was worn out yesterday afternoon, so I stopped and picked this up. I was REALLY good. I had never had the Salted Caramel one. YUM.
I came home to some new product from Nuun! I'm so excited to try this out. I won't use this until I'm getting into some longer runs. It suggests using it when exerting energy for 90-minutes +. I will let you know what I think of it - hopefully in a few weeks! Fingers crossed.
Then it was time to do my physical therapy exercises. I had been using a 10 pound kettlebell for some of my exercises. I upped my weight to 20 pounds yesterday! The moves were definitely a little more challenging, but I feel stronger, so that's a positive.
I also worked on some bridge stuff.
It's kind of hard to tell, but my form is not very good on this leg, which is my bad leg. I cannot get my hips up any higher than this when using my left leg to push up.
This side is quite a bit better and I didn't feel as shaky. I really have to focus when using my left leg to hold myself in this position. I think you can see the difference more in my back than anything else.
Then Jake came home and it was off to Fleet Feet for a new Altra shoe launch! I broke out one of my favorite running hats from Nuun.
These are not out on the market yet, but here's the new Duo. It's a max cushion shoe, but it feels pretty solid. We got to run in these, and while I didn't dislike them, they aren't my favorite. I am a Torin girl, through and through! Jake thinks he would like these when running a marathon - he thinks the sturdier cushion would be great when he got to mile 20 and on. Since I haven't ran that distance, I can't say what I think about that, but as of now, I'm going to stick with my Torins. I loved getting to try these out, though! We did a 3-mile run in these last night. My hamstring was pretty tight after 2 miles, but then Jake gave me an AMAZING tip that seemed to really help! He had just read an article about the benefits of leaning forward a little while running. I started doing this and it seemed to take some pressure off my hammy. I'm excited to try it from the start of my run on Thursday - it's the exact form I end up using when I'm pool running, since wearing that aqua belt makes me lean forward a little bit more than I do on pavement. I will let you know how my Thursday run goes!
Getting to try out the new Duos! I love being able to try on new shoes - what an awesome idea by Altra and Fleet Feet.
We got to walk on the red carpet after our run! Celebrity status. ; )
Kayla has started running in Altras, too, so she joined us for the launch. She's wearing Torins here, which are what all three of us wear when we road run.
Fleet Feet has their own wine! How cool is that?
Jake is coaching Kayla through her first half - she's doing the Rock 'n' Roll in Nashville with me. It'll be her first half and I can't wait to experience it with her! Our other running buddy, Jyssica, is running the full. It'll be her first full! It's going to be such an amazing weekend watching these two crush their races! Hurry up, April!
After the launch party, Kayla, Jake, and I grabbed dinner from Galloway Station. They just got a new menu and I had the gyro. Holy cow. It was SO good. I also love their homemade chips. I can never eat all of them because they give you SO many.
Then is was up at 4 to get a pool run in! I thought about doing 45-60 minutes, but once I got in the pool, I just wasn't feeling it, plus I needed a little bit of recovery, so I did 30-ish minutes and called it quits. I did a 5 minute warm-up, then sprinted for 3 minutes with a 30 second recovery in-between. I did that for about 20-ish minutes, then I cooled down for about 3 minutes.
I listened to a podcast by Ali on the Run while I was in the pool, then I sat in the sauna for about 20 minutes. That felt really good, especially because the pool was pretty dang chilly this morning.
I have another interview today - I only need three more (I have the participants already)! I am getting SO close to being finished with interviews. I can't believe it. I just need to finish up data analysis, which I can't really do until I'm completely finished with interviews, but I can at least get started on it a little bit more. I need to really buckle down and knock some work out so I can attempt a May graduation. GULP. I'm not sure if it's possible, but I'm going to try. I'm hoping to knock out some analysis today, do my interview, knock out more analysis, and check-in with the online classes I'm teaching. I also need to send a bunch of emails, so I need to get started on that! Jake and I have our first workout at HealthTracks this evening, so I'm looking forward to that!
Happy Wednesday, everyone!
I write about whatever is going on each day. I want to use this space as a place to document my dissertation and training journeys.
