Our Thanksgiving!

I started my day yesterday with an 8 mile run. It was about 27 when I started, but it warmed up SO quickly. It was the perfect running weather. It felt good to get moving!

This picture. I can’t stop laughing. My Mom sent this selfie in our family group text to show us her onion chopping goggles. They really do work! She just cracks me up. She takes onion chopping VERY seriously.

Jake got called into work as we were getting ready to head to my parents’, so he headed to work and I swung by the store for some mimosa stuff, then went to my parents’ house. I LOVE mimosas. Anyone else? As I walked into their house, the Backstreet Boys were playing. I had another good laugh!

My Mom got a phone call right when I got there, so I made us mimosas and relaxed for a little bit.

I hadn’t eaten yet after my run, so I was starving! My Mom made these as an appetizer and they were delicious! They had brie, cranberry sauce, and nuts on them. I probably ate half this plate…

Piper, my sister, didn’t want to take a picture with me. Obviously. I still made her. I’m the big sister, so I’m the boss! 😉 Just kidding, Pipes! Kind of.

Mimosa refill! If I’m going to have a drink in the mornings, I think mimosas are my favorite. The OJ is so refreshing and the champagne makes it bubbly.

My Dad’s ham was AMAZING. My sister and I are not huge turkey fans, so we have always had ham as a family. I think this was my favorite recipe yet! Way to go, Dad! <3

Yummmmm. Stuffing and ham are my favorite Thanksgiving foods! By far.

Attempting a silly picture…major fail. We missed Jake! He showed up a little later and got to eat.

Everything was SO good. I also love corn casserole. I’m not a huge mashed potatoes fan, but they were delicious, especially when mixed with cranberry sauce, which I added later.

Jake showed up and ate after working for a little bit, then we tried to watch old family videos, but the VCR we found in the basement wasn’t working. Somehow, Jake found this pin of me from high school cross country. He wore it all day…

We took Lu with us to my parents’ house. She loves getting to visit and she REALLY loves my Dad – he spoils her rotten. She wasn’t really into taking family pictures.

Our attempt at a family picture with everyone! Ralph, my sister’s pup, was really concerned with what Lu was doing.

Lu’s favorite way to ride in the car. We went home for about an hour, played frisbee with our girls for most of that time, just to wear them out, then we headed to Jake’s parents’ house for Thanksgiving dinner number 2!

Thomas Rhett, one of my favorite artists, was performing at the Cowboys game. I was SO excited.

Jake’s aunt, Michelle, had this beautiful book made for us! It’s pictures of our time spent in Colorado this summer, including our engagement. I LOVE it SO much! Thank you, Michelle! This means so much to us!

Round 2! So, so, so good! Jeff’s ham was amazing, too, and Michelle makes this homemade ranch that is to die for. We also had a green bean casserole that has mushrooms added to it – it’s my favorite!

This picture cracks me up! Jake was looking at all the ads, and when I went to take his picture, he turns and says, “I don’t even like shopping…why am I doing this?” HA! That comment explains his face in this picture…he DID, however, go out this morning and get some sweet Black Friday deals, soooo, I guess he does like to shop. A little bit. ; )

Whoops. I wanted to try everything, so Jake and I shared this. I was SO full afterwards, but everything was delicious. I used to not like pecan pie, but now I love it!

I want to knock out some work today and practice the presentation I’m giving on WEDNESDAY. I’m definitely nervous about this presentation – it’s nerve-wracking to present someone else’s study and data. But, I know it will go well and that we are prepared! I’m just ready to do it. We don’t have much going on this weekend, which is nice! Jake is on call, so I think we will stick close to home. I’d love to get our Christmas decorations up…I might start on that tonight.
