I'm so glad Jake is back to running with me! He joined Kayla and me for our workout run Thursday morning. Kayla crushed it and I survived, ha! I'm definitely not where I'd like to be, but I'm at least running with no pain, so that's all I care about right now. I'm so glad I'm going to be able to show up to the start line in Nashville HEALTHY! Remember that was my overall goal? I haven't decided what I'm going to do pace-wise...I'm thinking I should just run and see how I feel.
I was STARVING after our run Thursday. Any time I do a workout run, I feel like I eat ALL day afterwards. Anyone else experience this??
I was also super worn out, so I laid down for about 20 minutes. Lu would only cuddle like this. I'll take what I can get...
Look at those cute little baby paws. The girls' toys are never far from either of them...
Lunch was the bomb. I ate some of the leftovers from Jake's rice and pineapple chicken, plus I made some more of my favorite brussels. So. Dang. Good.
This is the face of sheer excitement - I went to Target yesterday for the first time in a LONG time. I was pumped! I just love Target. They have the cutest clothes, not that I ever need any, but I still like to browse!
Essentials...ink and TP. I am happy to report I only got ONE thing that wasn't on my list. I think that deserves some kind of award!
I think I've shared about this, but it's been awhile. My Dad gets to hood me at my graduation ceremony!! How awesome is that? He ordered his gown and it just came in. He sent me these pictures yesterday. I'm going to cry for sure on graduation, there's no doubt about it. He's the best. It means so much to me that he will get to be part of the celebration for the hardest thing I've ever done. I wouldn't be where I am without my parents support, that's for sure.
Carrots and PB for an afternoon snack.
I couldn't find Lu yesterday...she was passed out in her kennel. She is just about as grumpy as I am when someone wakes me up before I'm ready...
I had an hour long meeting about my dissertation with my committee chair. It went really well and was the first time I've gotten off the phone with her not feeling completely overwhelmed! I'm never overwhelmed because of her, just because she always reminds me of things I need to do that I had forgotten about. As of right now, I'm all caught up! It's a weird feeling.
I also realized I kind of matched my desk area...
We met Jake's family for dinner at Galloway. It's almost his parents anniversary and they are headed to the Dominican Republic to celebrate their 25 years of marriage! Happy early anniversary, you two! We love you!
I had the veggie burger (sans bun) and sweet potato fries!
After dinner, we met our friends Katie and Layne for beers at 4 By 4 - someone had ordered a bunch of pizza and set all the leftovers on our table. WHOOPS. I couldn't resist...
Today is my rest day from running and I really needed it! My body was worn out. I slept in and went to barre at Physique. It felt good to move!
Another day, another yummy breakfast!
I'm going to work on edits a little today - my dissertation committee chair didn't have that many for me, which was the BEST news I've ever gotten (slightly sarcastic, but I was imagining ALL kinds of edits), so that made me feel good. I'm going to Rock'n Ribs with some girlfriends later tonight. I can't wait! Jordan and I have an 8-miler Saturday morning, then there's a group of us going to Jyssica's yoga for runners workshop - it's at Pure Hot Yoga, if anyone is interested! Jake might be racing his mountain bike on Sunday - we will see what the weather does! It's going to be a busy, fun weekend!
I write about whatever is going on each day. I want to use this space as a place to document my dissertation and training journeys.
