I am loving this cooler weather we are having...I spent some time stretching on our front porch yesterday while I waited for Jake to get me to finish his run with him. Today is my off day from running, so I'll do some arms and abs later. I have 17 miles tomorrow (Friday), so I'm laying off the legs today. That will be my longest run EVER. I'm excited!!
After our run yesterday, we got lots of Lu cuddles. Her favorite thing is running around like crazy in the wet grass while we stretch.
Forced cuddles are the best, am I right? ; )
I'm not sure how this is comfortable...but she slept like this for a long time.
Overnight oats for the win. These have rolled oats, Greek yogurt, flaxseed milk, almond milk, PB2, vanilla, protein powder, and collagen. Just mix it all together, put it in the fridge, and boom - you have breakfast in the morning. The recipe is below! I just made it up, so it's from MyFitnessPal.
This is how I feel about my dissertation right now. I worked SUPER hard yesterday to get a tiny bit ahead of schedule. Read on for a plot twist.
I took a break for lunch: tofu, asparagus, blueberries, and crackers.
Because who doesn't need a 19 pound bag of Epsom salt?
Snack time - rice cake with the hummus I made and some cereal.
Jake was helping a friend take some pictures, so Lu and I tagged along and went on a walk.
All the modeling.
Aspen used to always lay here, so I think Lu was missing her yesterday. I know I was. <3
See all those spots on the glass? That's from Lu. I can't keep that glass clean because she's always touching it with her nose. It's a lost cause.
I met Jyssica and Kayla for dinner at Galloway. I had the salmon and veggies and it was delicious, as always.
Much needed girl time! We had a blast catching up and talking about running.
Okay, here's the annoying part about nearing the end of my doctoral work. About 4PM yesterday I got an email saying someone had forgotten to tell me something important about the chapter I've been planning. Because of that, I needed to add a bunch of missing stuff to the chart I had been working on ALL day and just submitted. Research stuff needed to be added, so, finding articles about various topics...blah, blah, blah. Not fun and super time-consuming. Anyway, I had worked so hard to get that stuff finished so I could have the rest of the week to work on finishing up edits on another chapter AND so we could go out of town this weekend for training runs. UUUGH. But, whatever. It is what it is. I went to dinner with the girls super grumpy. They let me vent and totally encouraged me (like always - thanks, ladies!). I came home with a game plan and went right to bed.
I got up at 4 this morning and got straight to work - I knew I could either be pissed about someone else's mistake or just suck it up and get my work finished. It took me about three hours this morning, but I THINK I'm back to being caught up. We will see. At the end of the day, we can only control what WE do. I can't control other people (no matter how badly I'd like to sometimes). All I can do is MY best and not let the little things throw me off course. So, here we are. It's going to be a 10 cup of coffee kind of day, but I'm about to start my other work like I originally planned. One day I'll look back on all of this and laugh. But for right now, my goal is to not chuck my computer on the floor, or at a wall, or outside... : )
It's not the end of the world. People are facing things a million times worse than a silly dissertation - but thank you for letting me vent! (I know you didn't really have a choice...)
So, we changed our weekend plans a little, which is probably for the best, and I'm going to knock out as much as I can! We are STILL getting to spend Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning at the lake with some friends, so we are really looking forward to that!
Happy Friday Eve, friends!
I write about whatever is going on each day. I want to use this space as a place to document my dissertation and training journeys.
