I am still fighting either a cold or allergies, not sure what. So, I'm drinking all the things to try and help! I woke up yesterday feeling the worst, so I'm hoping Wednesday was my worst day. I mixed these teas and sipped on them for most of the day. I also drank lots of orange juice.
I also picked up some flu shots from Mama Jean's - they put lots of good stuff in these: oregano oil, which I add to my tea at home, is one of the main ingredients. They also put cayenne pepper on the top, so they burn a little!
I defend my dissertation proposal TOMORROW. So, I spent yesterday making sure all of my forms were filled out correctly and looking at timelines. I was supposed to graduate in May of 2018, but now I'm trying to decide if i want to do that, or give myself a little more writing time and graduate in August of 2018. I haven't made up my mind yet! I think an August graduation might help with my stress levels, but we will see!
I've been adding this Paleo protein to my smoothies for lunch this week. I can't really taste much, but this is unflavored anyway. I like it because it's clean and it blends really well.
Smoothies for lunch are perfect when you aren't feeling well! I throw a bunch of veggies in them and know I'm getting good nutrients.
Lu stuck pretty close to my side yesterday. She would push her nose against my head whenever I wasn't paying attention to her...she's so sassy. Aspen was asleep in her chair most of the day, like always!
Snacks and scabs, appetizing huh? HA! I had forgotten how much I loved grapes...YUM.
We spent the day doing lots of paperwork! Lu wasn't very interested in what I was writing...
Our SUPER talented friend, Brandi, took pictures at the Singletrack Mind Festival that we went to over the weekend. She got this picture of me after I finished. I fell a couple of times during the 15 mile race, but I'm healing up just fine and back to running! Jake was the race director and made the courses, so I have been giving him a hard time about me falling, because it's really HIS fault, right? He loves it! ; )
Weird moment: Jake had two ingrown hairs on his head, so I got my tweezers and headlamp and pulled them out! It was awesome. He's probably going to love that I posted this picture! ; ) But hey, I want to share our lives with you guys and this is it, friends! Super glamorous. Also, I just really love my headlamp...
So, I got up this morning to run. (I ended up taking yesterday off completely because I felt pretty crummy). I got up today, put my running clothes on, grabbed some coffee, and then got cold. Soooo, I put my robe on and crawled back into bed...whoops! Anyone else ever do that?? Why are our beds SO much more comfortable when we need to get up? It's not fair.
But, I got to sit and drink coffee with Jake, so I'll take it! Also, a robe over running clothes is pretty comfy!
I eventually got out to run when Jake left for work - I'm LOVING these cooler temperatures. So much. Fall is my favorite season! I was also excited to try out my goodr sunnies on their first run. I LOVED them. I ended up with 5 miles at a 9:07 pace. I didn't feel great, but I didn't feel awful, so I'll take it! I have computer stuff to do the rest of the day, so I'll be resting! I have GOT to get back into lifting. I haven't done much strength training since we left for Colorado, so after this week, once I'm healthy again, I'm getting back into that!
Breakfast casserole after my run! My stomach was a little upset when I got home, but then I remembered I was dumb and took some medicine, drank coffee, and drank my BCAAs on an empty stomach, then ran 5 miles. Not smart - don't do that! Now that I've eaten, I feel much better!
Anyone else crawl back into bed once they're dressed to workout?
Why are our beds more comfortable in the AM?
I've got computer stuff to do today and some errands to run. I'm ready to defend my proposal TOMORROW and get started working on my study. I appreciate any prayers/positive vibes for tomorrow! I'm actually kind of excited to talk about my study - once it's approved and I've gotten permission to start it, I will share more with you!
Hey, tomorrow is Friday! I hope your Thursday is great!
I write about whatever is going on each day. I want to use this space as a place to document my dissertation and training journeys.
