I got this message from a friend the other night and it made me SO happy. I love when people try new foods & end up loving them! How delicious does this look?! Way to go, Merica! Thank you for sharing! <3
Jake got our recycling area all set up in the garage! We have been trying to take the bins to the recycling center every Saturday, but sometimes we forget and things get a little crazy around the bins. We definitely go through A LOT of plastic...hence the two bins for plastic.
I spent some time working on homework at school yesterday whenever I had a free second. I also snacked on some almond butter & carrots. Mmm. Oh, and Jake snuck this AMAZING treat into my lunch for me - Justin's dark chocolate & almond butter cups. SO DANG GOOD. We love these. Maybe too much...
I had taco salad again for lunch, along with some protein chips. I also watched a little New Girl while I ate - can't stop, won't stop. I like to tear my tortillas into pieces and then load up each individual piece with salad goodness - it's like having 6 little taco salad burritos! Weird? Probably.
I had kind of a rough ending to my work day, sometimes that happens when you work with middle schoolers (eye-roll), but inside of going home and being grouchy (or napping....or getting a drink) I drank some BCAAs and lifted a little in the garage while I waited for Jake to get home. This flavor is Peach Mango and it is GOOOOOOD. I love drinking these before a workout, I definitely feel like they give me more energy. I drank about half before and finished the second half afterwards, before we ran.
Scottie & Brandi are storing their home gym in our garage, which we LOVE. Thank you, friends, for letting us have access to this amazing-ness 24/7!
I wanted to get a whole body workout in since I have been REALLY terrible about getting into a lifting schedule. This semester has been the craziest one ever, so I had to let a few things go just to survive (this is something I really struggle with because I get down on myself - thank goodness for Jake. He can always talk me down/knock some sense into me). Well, now the crazy is over, so it's back to lifting/attempting to lift - I lost a lot over the last few months. My legs were absolutely shot from our runs this week, so I didn't finish the leg reps, but I got everything else in. I was definitely in a much better mood after this, so I'm glad I sucked it up & got a little workout in before we ran.
Then Jake got home and we went for a little 4-mile run & did a little mushroom hunting. How gorgeous was the weather yesterday?!
Jake searched for some mushrooms, then I made him pose by the railroad tracks - he loves me for this! ; ) He's just so cute!
I was in love with this weather & loved getting some much needed sunshine time. My Altras are officially my favorite running shoe. They're SO dang comfy.
Then it was back home to clean up a little and grill for dinner! We had gotten this bottle of wine awhile ago, so we thought our anniversary dinner was the perfect time to break it out. I also thought this shirt appropriate...Jake said I didn't run 5 miles, so I couldn't drink the whole bottle. SO unfair!
While Jake performed some kind of magic on the grill, I made sweet potatoes and a salad. HOLY YUM. This meal was phenomenal. The steaks were PERFECT, the mushrooms were INCREDIBLE, and the wine was the BEST. Also, everything was Paleo, minus the steak seasoning, since we got them pre-seasoned from Hormann's. I had never had Morel Mushrooms before. We just sautéed them in avocado oil then chowed down. They're definitely a new favorite veggie for me! Which isn't really surprising since I love all food...
After dinner, sat at the kitchen table & talked for awhile, then got some good cuddles in with our girls.
These two are ridiculously spoiled. But they're just the best. <3
I had Bulletproof coffee again this morning. It's so good! I added some Cacao powder today. Mmm. Super yummy!
This sat in my car for about 20 minutes, but doesn't it look good?! It's usually a little more blended than this, but I still love it.
We are going out to dinner tonight to celebrate our one year. I think there's a 90% chance that we will eat at Metro Farmer - it's one of our favorite places, with one of our favorite bartenders - Amber, we love you! We will go eat early because we both have long runs that we would like to do EARLY Saturday morning. After we run, I think we will head to the farmer's market for a little bit & then get some stuff done around the house. I have some computer work I need to do, so I will probably spend some time working on that Saturday & Sunday. The weekends always go by WAY too quickly & I feel like I can never get everything accomplished that I wanted to do. I cannot wait until next year...I think not having a 7-3 job will help with this feeling. 29.5 days....
Does anyone have big weekend plans?
Any good training runs/rides happening?
I hope everyone has the BEST weekend!!! I will be back on Monday! <3
I write about whatever is going on each day. I want to use this space as a place to document my dissertation and training journeys.
