My run yesterday was humid! I got 5 miles in before yoga. It's been nice sleeping in a little, but it kind of throws me off my routine. I need to still get up early and run. I think when I sleep in, I end up getting too much sleep and then I feel kind of groggy throughout the day. Anyone else ever feel this way??
Nothing like starting hot yoga already sweaty! I like to get to class a little early to do some abs before...sometimes I end up falling asleep and wake up super disoriented. It just feels so good to lay down in a hot room! I can't normally sleep when I'm hot, but there's something about hot yoga that relaxes me.
I ran some errands after I worked out, then it was home to edit manuscripts and ice. My knees have been a little tender the past few days, so I've been trying to be careful. I also felt like I had a tendon in my foot that was getting angry, so I iced that, too.
Then it was time for lunch. Leftovers and Netflix, yes please! Is anyone else watching Shameless?
This is what we had the other night for dinner - spaghetti squash and shrimp. So good! And some leftover veggies and hummus from Jake's meeting Tuesday evening.
Lu had to go to the vet yesterday for a check-up. She was pretty amped about going "bye-bye in the car", but she was not cooperating for pictures. She loves riding in the car. She got a few shots, but was such a good girl!
I was starving when we got home from the vet, so I had a couple of these beets I posted about a few days ago. I LOVE them.
I love shorts and long-sleeve weather! It's my favorite. My parents came over for dinner last night, so I showered and got ready super quick before they showed up. Jake ran a quick 5 miles when he got home from work...he had already gotten in 15 yesterday morning. He's killing his training and I'm so proud.
It's exhausting being a dog.
I requested cowboy grillers for dinner. These are my favorite! Hormann Meats carries them. They're steak bites wrapped in bacon with a spicy seasoning (you can get non-spicy, too). Jake also grabbed some venison brats with jalapeno and cheddar. I tried them, but they weren't my favorite. Everyone else loved them! I think I was too focused on the grillers. Mmm mmm mmmm.
I ate ALL of this. Minus the brat... ; ) If you haven't tried Sriracha on a sweet potato, do it. You're welcome.
After dinner last night, we sat out on our porch and chatted for awhile. It was super fun! My Mom brought over cookies and wine, so we all indulged a little.
I woke up in the middle of the night with a terrible pain in my foot. When I got out of bed to get some ice, I couldn't bend my foot at all and had a really hard time walking. Stupid tendon that felt weird earlier was definitely acting up. I was supposed to meet a girlfriend to run at 5 am, but I figured that wasn't going to happen. I grabbed ice and went back to bed. I texted her at 4 to tell her I was going to take the day off from running (bummer). My foot feels a little better now, I can walk on it normally, but it's definitely still tender. I will see how it feels throughout the day. I might just do a weight workout later. I HATE not being able to run. HATE HATE HATE.
I spent the morning taking care of our poor plants...this bag was overflowing by the time I finished. I most definitely do NOT have a green thumb, so I'm trying not to kill all our plants...
I stole this from my friend, Alyssa...anyone else ever do this? I love to-do lists. A lot.
I'm meeting my friend Michelle for breakfast in a little bit - I can't wait to catch up with her! Then I need to run some errands and do a little more editing, plus do some work on my dissertation proposal. GULP. We are going to dinner at Jake's parents' house later to celebrate his Dad's birthday (which was Tuesday) and his sister's birthday (which is today)! We always love spending time with them, so it'll be a fun evening!
Cheers to Friday Eve!!
I write about whatever is going on each day. I want to use this space as a place to document my dissertation and training journeys.
