Aspen was up a lot Sunday night. I heard her every time she got up to walk around, so I was up a lot, too. I stayed in bed Monday morning a little longer than usual to try and catch up on some sleep. Since I got up a little later than usual, I woke up pretty hungry. A piece of Dave's Killer bread with butter and honey was just what I needed! I usually run on an empty stomach, but I needed to eat something yesterday.
We had a wonderful weekend doing some of our favorite things. We still haven't heard about Aspen's last lab test, so I will be calling the vet today. It shouldn't take this long to find out. She seemed to feel a little better Friday evening and Saturday morning, but she is definitely not herself. If I can watch her closely, she doesn't have to wear her cone. She just keeps messing with the lumps on her body and making them bleed. She doesn't love wearing the cone, but she doesn't seem to hate it. But, if I can watch her and keep her from wearing it, I'm going to try!
My sister got a couple of pictures back from her wedding a few weekends ago. She shared these two with me. Who knows what Jake said to me in the second one, but this is a usual occurrence for us.
We got a call yesterday morning with some not so great news about Aspen's biopsies. They were going to run one more test to be sure, so we are just playing the waiting game right now. I'll share more when we know more. Thank you to everyone for your words of encouragement about our Aspey girl. She definitely got lots of deserved cuddles yesterday. She's still in her cone, which she really doesn't seem to mind. She just won't leave her biopsied spots alone, so this is the only way we can keep her from getting to them. And she STILL gets to them. She ripped out her other stitches while I was out running errands yesterday. Eye-roll.
Another day, another smoothie for breakfast.
Monday morning started with a track workout. I texted Jyssica at 9 PM on Sunday evening, telling her I'd be at the track a little before 5 AM Monday morning. Her response, "See ya there!" Ha! We both ran from our houses and did our own 3 mile warm-up and we got to the track about the same time! We each did our own workouts at the track, too, but it was nice seeing each other every few laps. Jyss did 400s and stairs - she has a race in Colorado coming up, so she has been training for that. I did 6 x 1k at 7:50 pace with 2 min jog in-between. (Ik = .62, so a little over a half mile). We both finished our workouts about the same time, so we did half of our 2 mile cool-downs together. We finished with a little over 9 miles to start the day!
We had a whirlwind of a weekend spent with some of our favorite people. It definitely flew by, but it was a good one.
This precious picture of baby Lulu popped up on Friday. She had the cutest little potbelly. I have puppy fever!!! If anyone has a puppy they will let me play with, I'll love you forever.
I went to Orangetheory for the first time yesterday afternoon (I'll share more about that later), so after I took Aspen to the vet at 7AM, I lounged in bed, drank my smoothie, and did some work on my computer. I've been wearing this ring that GrooveLife sent me - HERE. I'll have a little review for you guys pretty soon! Isn't it adorable?
Since I mysteriously turned off my alarm Wednesday morning, I decided to get started on some work and put my run off until the afternoon. Let's just say that was a terrible idea. One day I'll learn...no more sleeping in for me. EVER. ; ) I sipped on my smoothie in bed while I did a little work.
My Tuesday morning started with a 30 minute rowing circuit and 25 minutes on the elliptical, followed by a little lifting.
I write about whatever is going on each day. I want to use this space as a place to document my dissertation and training journeys.
