(As I was typing this, I realized I kept saying what Lu was thinking - does anyone else do that? I swear she's human, so I just know she has these thought processes. You can laugh at me if you want to, I get it! ; ) )
I got up early to work yesterday. Lu stayed in bed until Jake got up, then she didn't want to be alone while she slept. She came into the kitchen and tried to steal my chair.
She eventually won. She's so funny when she's not completely awake. She just stares at us a lot.
She really wanted to play, but Mondays are hard and she needed to nap. Lu is Queen of the head tilt. I love it. I'll have to try to get a video to post so you can laugh about it, too.
I did NOT want to run yesterday. I went to bed Sunday night pumped about my run, but when I woke up on Monday, running was the last thing I wanted to do. I texted Jake that I didn't want to run, then I got dressed, chugged my BCAAs, and forced myself to walk out the front door and hit start on my watch. I like to keep him guessing. I had a hill workout run to do, so I was really not looking forward to it.
I felt pretty flat the first mile, but after that, I started feeling a lot better! My workout looked like this: 3 mile WU, 8x (400m uphill at 7:45ish, 400m downhill at 8:45ish), 2 mile CD. I was WAY too fast on the downhills, but I just couldn't get slowed down. I've done this workout a few times before, but this was the highest reps so far. My legs were super fatigued by the halfway mark. I stopped twice to drink water and go to the bathroom. I was super thirsty during this run, so I would chug water. Not the best idea. I ended with 9 @ 8:28.
As soon as I finished, it was back to chugging water.
I showered and washed my hair after my run. This was the LAST time I have to deal with long, wet hair! I'm going to cut my hair on Wednesday. I just need a change! I'm sure I'll grow my hair back out, I love it long, but I'm just ready for something different. I'm not going to color it or anything, I like my natural color and I don't love keeping up with coloring. I used to be platinum blonde...I think I was getting my roots touched up every 3 weeks because my hair is so dark and grows so fast.
Lu took lots of naps yesterday. If you walk by when she's laying down, she will flip over onto her back, just so you can access her belly for some belly rubs a little easier. She really is a super thoughtful dog...
Lunch was tuna, Mahi-mahi, cauliflower, edamame, and butternut squash noodles. I couldn't eat all of this, ha! I ate the veggies and saved the fish for a snack later on.
She cracks me up.
We went to the vet to have them check the tooth Lu broke off. They asked how we were doing since Aspen and how Lu was doing without her. They always take such good care of us. I worked with the vet yesterday that sat on the floor of this same room and sobbed with me while I cuddled Aspen after deciding we would have to put her down - I've never worked with vets who care as much about our furbabies as we do. None of it was easy, but they did help us, and our girls, throughout the entire process.
Lu kept hearing other dogs outside of her room - she really wanted to go play.
I 100% looked around for Chris Pratt. And a dinosaur.
I'm trying another new protein powder for smoothies. This was on sale and I like their pre-workout, so I grabbed some. I put it in my smoothie that I had for dinner last night and it's pretty good! It has quite a few more carbs than the other one I was using, but I needed a higher carb count yesterday since I ran longer. I need to have it just mixed with water so I can compare the taste. I LOVED the flavor of the PlantFusion vanilla bean, which is what we just used up in our overnight oats.
I had my leftover fish from lunch for a snack later on.
I got a bunch of work finished yesterday for my dissertation, then I started on grading. I'm teaching 4 online college courses this semester, which is a lot. Once I'm finished with my dissertation, it'll be fine, but right now, it's a little crazy. I got the first week of all the classes graded, so that's good! I'm all caught up right now and I have the next 3 weeks 100% ready to go, so that's good. I had a huge smoothie for dinner and watched New Girl while I graded. I have taken over our kitchen table, so it's going to look like this for the next month. I'm okay with that!
Jake mowed when he got home from work, so I worked until he was finished. He came inside for dinner and we watched an episode of Gilmore Girls. He had some of the same things I had eaten for lunch.
I'm starting to feel like I'm getting a cold...I'm hoping it's nothing! I'm going to go to Mama Jean's later and get a Cold and Flu shot. They always help me.
This week and next are critical for my dissertation, so if you don't see a post from me, just know that I'll be back! I'm so close to being finished.
Kayla and I are going to a fun Happy Hour Training Night tonight for our races this winter - I'm doing the full and she's dong the half, so I'm looking forward to that. Other than that, today is all about computer work and a workout at some point.
I write about whatever is going on each day. I want to use this space as a place to document my dissertation and training journeys.
