We had the BEST weekend. The weather was perfect & we got to spend every day outside. It was perfect. For lunch on Friday, I had leftovers again - tuna/salmon patties & squash. Super yummy.
Then it was home to change super fast & head to hot yoga, which kicked my butt. I made it to yoga twice last week, which was perfect. I'm hoping to get there two - three times this week. <3
Then we cleaned up & met some friends at Galloway for Cinco. We decided to ride our tandem down there...it was definitely interesting! Once we fix it up, I think we will really like it! We only had one small fight when we dropped the chain... ; ) We had a super fun night enjoying some of our favies!
These two brave couples took the tandem out for a spin!
Love them all MUCHO!
Then it was up early Saturday to run! I got 12 in & Jake got 20. I was SO impressed with his training this weekend. He was SO strong both days & really got some great runs/rides in. I honestly don't know how he does it, but I could not be more proud. He's a superstar.
During my run, I ran over by the house I grew up in. It's always so fun to see the house and think of the memories. We moved from this house when I was 8, but it's still so special to me.
Jake got home shortly after I did, so we made a small batch of our new Whysk protein pancakes - Snickerdoodle flavor!! They were DELICIOUS. Then we headed out the door to spend the day on our bikes. I got a new bike & I'm obsessed. I haven't had the best luck with bikes the past few months, but Jake was determined. I'm in love, so I think he did well! We ran into our friends Scott & Luke at Cherry Pickers, which was so fun. Then Scott, Jake, & I rode over to Mother's to see Scott's sweet girlfriend. It was a really nice day!
Also, my excitement over my new bike was much more important that sun screen, I guess. Whoops. This is pretty painful...
Saturday night after our day of riding, we went to Metro for date night. This guy is my favorite. For sure.
We split the calamari appetizer which was PHENOMENAL. Jake was ready to chow down...
Jake had the most amazing burger with an egg on top. Seriously. SO good. If you like burgers, go get this.
I was still hot from riding all day/burning the crap out of my skin, so I was craving a salad. It was suuuuuper yummy. I added a salmon filet, too. <3
Sunday morning Jake got up & ran 13 - he's amazing. Then we went to Early Bird for brunch before he went on a ride. He's so responsible...I don't know why he wouldn't look at the camera AND back up simultaneously.
I had one of my favorite breakfasts - The Robin. It's two poached eggs with hollandaise sauce, broccoli, ham, & sweet potato nugs all on top of a pastry. It's the BEST. Oh, & all the Sriracha.
Jake got the chorizo & eggs, also with sweet nugs. Aaaaaand we shared a pancake. It was a super yummy breakfast.
Then it was home so Jake could get ready for a long ride & I got started on meal prep & doing a little cleaning. I found this milk at Mama Jean's. It's pretty good! We are having smoothies this week for breakfast, so we will add this to them.
I love BCAAs in the mornings before my runs. I really like the brand I have now, but it's a little tart, & that can be hard for me to drink in the mornings. I got this, which is vanilla latte flavored, so I'm excited to try it out!
I think I posted about this last week, but I started taking these every day & holy heck I think it's helping a lot with my joints already. YAY! I haven't had any knee/hip pain in a few days.
After I finished cleaning & meal prepping, Jake got home from his ride & went outside to do some yard work. He's seriously a machine. I sat out in the sun for a little bit while he finished up. Then we picked up dog poop. SUPER fun. Eye-roll.
I totally forgot to post a picture of our new boards! Here they are!!!!! I cannot wait to try them out.
After we finished up yard work, we rode to dinner, then to Andy's. Jake has a mouth full of ice cream here...
Here is my new baby!! <3 <3 <3 I love her. So much.
I was a mean Mom & made the girls stay outside all day. The little one was pretty tuckered out.
I didn't run Sunday, so I was really looking forward to getting a run in this morning. I love starting my week off with a run. It was PERFECT running weather & I had ZERO knee pain. YAY!
I was suuuuper sweaty & needed all the water afterwards. I chugged that whole bottle...that was too much.
I got 5 in while Jake & his Dad lifted in our garage.
Smoothies for breakfast this week! Lots of veggies, fruit, & protein. Mm.
Here is our menu for the week. We have a date night with Mitch & Dawn on Thursday - we can't wait! It's been WAY too long since we have seen them. We will also get to see lots of family on Sunday at our BBQ. It's going to be another gorgeous weekend.
Happy Monday, everyone! I hope your day is wonderful. 9.5 days left of school...
I write about whatever is going on each day. I want to use this space as a place to document my dissertation and training journeys.
